Why I’m Passionate About Literacy
Literacy is more than just learning to read, it is the foundation that allows children to understand the world, express themselves, and build confidence that carries into every part of their lives. I am deeply passionate about literacy because I’ve seen firsthand how early struggles with reading can affect a child’s self-esteem, academic progress, and love of learning. Nothing brings me more joy than watching a child light up when the pieces finally click and they discover the joy of reading. Every child deserves strong literacy roots that allow them to flourish
Intervention History / Experience
I hold a Master’s degree in Exceptional Student Education and have dedicated my career to supporting young learners with literacy challenges. Over the years I have worked with children of various ages, providing targeted, evidence-based reading intervention in both individual and small-group settings. My experience includes helping struggling readers, emerging readers, and students with reading delays catch up and gain confidence. I specialize in Structured Literacy approaches and have extensive training in phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, and comprehension strategies. I’ve seen remarkable growth in the children I’ve worked with, from non-readers gaining their first sounds and words, to reluctant readers becoming more engaged and successful in school. I am committed to using a multi-sensory approach, and individualized instruction so each child receives exactly what they need to succeed.
Personal Philosophy
Strong literacy skills create opportunities for a lifetime. With evidence-based instruction and consistent support, reading success is well within reach for every child. My philosophy is rooted in the principle that strong foundations matter. I approach every student with the belief that they are capable, and I tailor instruction to their unique needs using explicit, systematic, and multisensory methods. Progress monitoring and regular communication with families are essential so that together we can celebrate growth and adjust support as needed. My objective is not only to teach children how to read but to help them understand why reading matters and how it unlocks learning, imagination, and confidence.
