Individual sessions and small-group sessions are offered, with both available only in person; consultation sessions can be conducted either in person or over the phone.
-
Early literacy intervention strengthens the core language and pre-reading skills that form the foundation for successful reading. Instruction targets oral language development, vocabulary growth, alphabet knowledge, phonological awareness, and reading comprehension through explicit, multisensory activities. Sessions are available individually or in small groups and are carefully sequenced so young learners build a robust language base, accurate letter knowledge, and the early decoding readiness needed for confident reading progress.
-
Phonological awareness is the ability to hear, identify, and manipulate the individual sounds in spoken language. This is the critical foundation that supports accurate decoding and spelling. Instruction systematically develops skills such as rhyming, syllable segmentation and blending, onset-rime awareness, and phoneme-level manipulation using explicit, multisensory methods. Available in individual sessions or small groups, this work builds the precise sound awareness students need for efficient reading.
-
Phonics instruction teaches the systematic relationships between letters and sounds so students can accurately decode and encode words. Lessons follow a carefully sequenced, cumulative progression. This sequence begins with basic letter-sound correspondences, and through more complex patterns; using explicit modeling, guided practice, and multisensory techniques. Delivered individually or in small groups, instruction is highly responsive to each learner’s pace and ensures mastery before advancing.
-
Reading comprehension instruction equips students with the strategies and knowledge needed to construct meaning from text. Lessons explicitly target vocabulary development, background knowledge, themes, main ideas, text structure, and comprehension monitoring through high-quality texts and structured discussion. Available in individual or small-group formats, this work helps students become thoughtful, independent readers who can engage deeply with increasingly complex material.
-
Fluency development builds the automaticity that allows students to read with appropriate rate, accuracy, and expression so cognitive resources can focus on meaning. Instruction combines modeled fluent reading, repeated reading of carefully selected texts, and targeted practice in phrasing and prosody. Offered individually or in small groups, these sessions strengthen the bridge between accurate decoding and confident, meaningful reading.
-
Reading Development Support provides comprehensive, ongoing instruction tailored to the full range of reading skills. Sessions integrate phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension into a cohesive, evidence-based plan. Whether delivered individually or as a small-group, progress is carefully monitored and instruction is adjusted so students steadily develop the skills and confidence of lifelong readers.

Why I Teach
Literacy is more than just learning to read, it is the foundation that allows children to understand the world, express themselves, and build confidence that carries into every part of their lives. I am deeply passionate about literacy because I’ve seen firsthand how early struggles with reading can affect a child’s self-esteem, academic progress, and love of learning. Nothing brings me more joy than watching a child light up when the pieces finally click and they discover the joy of reading. Every child deserves strong literacy roots that allow them to flourish.
